Yashasvi Jaiswal got his T20I debut cap in the third T20I of the five-T20I series against West Indies. Jaiswal was handed his debut cap by India’s T20 speciallist Suryakumar Yadav at Providence Stadium, Guyana on August 8. 
 

“Congratulations for another feather in your cap. I am sure you have waited for a very long time to earn this. Firstly, it is my pleasure to give cap to a Test player. Also, everyone here knows about your journey. Your story has been inspirational and today everyone is going to stand by you on the ground irrespective of what happens. Go out there and enjoy. Be yourself, be fearless,” Suryakumar said in front of teammates and support before giving the Test cap to Jaiswal. 

Jaiswal replaced wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan in the side. Kishan had registered scores of 27, and 6 in the first and second T20I respectively. 
 

Hardik Pandya made another change in the playing XI after he lost the toss. He replaced leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi with left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav in the must-win encounter.
 

Jaiswal’s IPL form and T20 numbers
 

Jaiswal was Rajasthan Royals' (RR) top performer in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. From 14 appearances, he scored 625 runs at an average of 48.08 including one century and 25 half-centuries. The southpaw batted with a stupendous strike rate of 163.61.
 

Jaiswal has played a total of 57 T20s. From 55 innings, he has scored 1,578 runs at an average of 29.77 and a strike rate of 143.84. The 21-year-old has scored one century and nine half-centuries so far.
 

Jaiswal’s Test debut 
 

Jaiswal made his Test debut on the Caribbean tour as well. He scored 171 in his debut Test and was adjudged 'Player of the match'. He followed it up with scores of 57 and 38 in the first and second innings of the second Test.
