Harmanpreet Kaur hails India's 'Ruthless' win over Pakistan heading into Women's Asia Cup semifinals

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur expressed immense satisfaction with her side's uncompromising performance following their dominant seven-wicket triumph over arch-rivals Pakistan in Saturday's Women's Asia Cup T20 fixture.

The victory was set up by a relentless display from India's spin quad, Shree Charani, Prema Rawat, Shafali Verma, and Deepti Sharma, who systematically dismantled the opposition for a paltry 55. The batters then made quick work of the pursuit, wiping off the required runs in a mere 8.4 overs.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet commended her group's discipline and execution, noting how vital it was to maintain high standards regardless of the tournament context. She highlighted that the squad frequently discusses playing with a ruthless edge and praised the bowlers for reading the surface accurately and sticking precisely to their tactical plans.

"It was a very important game for us. We talk about being ruthless, so very happy. All the bowlers have been outstanding, stuck to the plans, read the pitch well and executed well," Harmanpreet said after the match.

India cruises into the knockout rounds with a flawless group stage record, having dispatched Pakistan, Thailand, and Hong Kong in emphatic fashion.

On the other hand, Pakistan's semi-final hopes remain firmly intact despite the setback against their arch-rivals. Facing Hong Kong in their remaining group fixture with a significantly superior net run rate, the path to securing a spot in the top four remains well within their control.

Shree Charani, Prema Rawat wreak havoc on Pakistan

It was Shree Charani and Prema Rawat who remained the architects of India's crushing win against Women in Green.

Left-arm orthodox spinner Charani registered brilliant figures of 3/7, while Rawat matched her impact with 3/9, bundling Pakistan out for a paltry total in 18.1 overs, their lowest score in T20 International history. India made quick work of the pursuit, wiping out the 56-run target in only 8.4 overs while losing three wickets, with captain Harmanpreet remaining at the crease on 18 not out.

Shafali Verma got the ball rolling for India by cleaning up Muneeba Ali for 13. Charani then delivered a double blow in the sixth over, sending back both Gull Feroza for a duck and top-scorer Shawaal Zulfiqar for 14, leaving the opposition reeling at 29 for 3.

There was no respite for Pakistan as they sank to 32 for 4 in the eighth over without any sign of recovery. Rawat and Deepti Sharma (2 for 5) continued to turn the screw, systematically tearing through the lower order to leave Pakistan in dire straits at 45 for 7 by the 13th over. The total of 55 undercut Pakistan's previous lowest T20I mark of 63—a record set against India during the 2012 Women’s Asia Cup in Guangzhou.
