Rookie Tilak Varma was stunned by off-spinner Roston Chase, who completed a fantastic acrobatic catch off his own bowling in the 5th T20I between India and West Indies at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida on August 13 (Sunday). The moment occurred on the fifth ball of the eighth over when Chase dived full length to his right and plucked the ball out of thin air with his right hand.

The left-handed Varma once again looked in ominous touch with the bat and enjoyed a flying start to his innings. In the last over of powerplay, Varma smacked four consecutive boundaries, including a six in Alzarri Joseph's over and scored 19 runs in the over. Just when Varma was in the middle of displaying his full repertoire of strokes, his innings was cut short by a moment of magic by Chase. Varma departed after scoring 27 runs off 18 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.
Varma's maiden T20I series with the bat came to an end and it is safe to say that the southpaw left an everlasting impression on the onlookers. The Mumbai Indians' batter aggregated 173 runs in five matches at an average of 57.67 and a strike rate of 140.65. He smashed a total of 15 fours and seven sixes.
