'Give a break to him': Ishan Kishan faces drop calls, India debut backed for this star

Former India opener Aakash Chopra has backed Prabhsimran Singh to make his India debut in the third T20I against Zimbabwe, urging the team management to rest Ishan Kishan after sealing the three-match series.

Chopra questioned why Prabhsimran was yet to get an opportunity despite being included in the squad, stating that the ongoing series presented the ideal platform to test new players.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra said the Indian team should use the final T20I to give Prabhsimran his maiden international appearance.

"Give a break to Ishan."

Explaining his point further, Chopra said Ishan Kishan could be rested as Prabhsimran is capable of performing wicketkeeping duties as well.

He also questioned the purpose of selecting Prabhsimran if he was not going to be given an opportunity.

"I am thinking of playing Prabh as well. What’s his mistake? You have selected Prabhsimran Singh, and we have no idea whatsoever when you would select him again. You have won the series," Chopra stated.

According to Aakash Chopra, with India already having secured the series, the management has the freedom to experiment and reward players waiting on the sidelines, adding that this is exactly the kind of series where such chances should be given.

India eye clean sweep after dominant second T20I win

India head into the third and final T20I after registering a comprehensive 90-run victory in the second match at the Harare Sports Club, their first series win under Shreyas Iyer following defeats in Ireland and England.

Batting first, India posted 219/5, courtesy of Ishan Kishan's 81 off 44 balls and an unbeaten 60 off 29 deliveries from Tilak Varma. Zimbabwe were then bowled out for 129 in the 18th over.

Following the victory, captain Shreyas Iyer praised the collective effort from the team and highlighted the batting performances of Kishan and Tilak, saying the duo played some outstanding shots that helped India finish well above what he initially considered to be a par score.

India could also be forced into at least one change, with Prince Yadav doubtful after suffering a hamstring injury during the second T20I, leaving the field midway through his spell.
