Shreyas Iyer's name was found missing from Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) central contract list following following his non-participation in domestic cricket. This decision came after Iyer reportedly declined to participate in the Ranji Trophy, the premier domestic tournament in India.
Not just Iyer but Ishan Kishan was also treated the same way by BCCI and was excluded too from the annual central contract as the southpaw remained on the sidelines of competitive cricket following his return from the Test series in South Africa.
Iyer's delayed Ranji Trophy Appearance
After being dropped from the Indian national team, Iyer initially missed Ranji Trophy games for Mumbai, citing back spasms as the reason.
However, Iyer did make a crucial comeback in the later stages of the Ranji Trophy. He participated in the semi-final and final, showcasing his talent with a crucial knock of 95 runs in the second innings of the title match against Vidarbha.
