Former IPL champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a convincing victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their final group stage match. This encounter took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on May 19. Even though Sunrisers Hyderabad had already qualified for the playoffs, this win was crucial as it allowed them to claim the no.2 spot from the Rajasthan Royals. The Rajasthan Royals' match was unfortunately rained out.

The key player for Sunrisers Hyderabad was their opener, Abhishek Sharma. Sharma's impressive knock of 66 runs off just 28 balls played a major role in his team's comfortable chase of the 215-run target set by Punjab Kings.

Following the match, a heartwarming moment between Sharma and Punjab Kings bowler Arshdeep Singh was captured on camera and has since gone viral on social media. Both cricketers walked towards the stands where Sharma's family members were seated. Arshdeep even went up to Sharma's mother to seek her blessings. In a sweet gesture, the bowler spoke to her in Punjabi, requesting the same blessings she bestows upon her son.

"Give me the blessings which you give to Abhishek… I want the same,” Arshdeep Singh told Abhishek's mother.

The heartwarming moment between Arshdeep and Abhishek's mother went viral after being shared on SRH batter's sister Komal Sharma's Instagram story.

Abhishek's sister put the video out on social media and captioned it as, “when  arshdeepsinghh meet with my mommy 🤣”.

This heartwarming interaction wasn't the only such moment for Abhishek Sharma's family this season. Last week, when rain washed out the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, Sharma took the Gujarat Titans captain, Shubman Gill, to meet his mother in the stands.  Gill even touched his mother's feet as a gesture of respect.

Abhishek Sharma himself has been a star performer for the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season. Currently the second-highest scorer on his team, he has racked up an impressive 467 runs in just 13 matches.  His strike rate is a phenomenal 209.42, and he's notched 3 fifties along the way.  As a left-handed batsman, he has often played a crucial role in setting up strong totals for his team, partnering effectively with Travis Head.

With the playoffs underway, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking to Abhishek Sharma for another powerful opening stand as they take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1.  A win here would put them in a strong position to claim their second IPL championship title.
