Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to cross swords with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 opener on March 22 at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) is slated to begin their campaign on March 24 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Jaipur. Their second clash will be against Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 28, also in Jaipur. After this, the RR team will head off to Mumbai to take on Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 1. Their fourth and final match will be played against RCB on April 6 in Jaipur.

RR spinner Adam Zampa has opted out of IPL 2024 due to personal reasons. He was acquired by the franchise for Rs. 1.5 crore during the IPL auction last year. RR named Tanush Kotian in place of Zampa for IPL 2024.

RR bagged IPL trophy in 2008
RR won the IPL title once in 2008 after thrashing defending CSK by three wickets. In 2022, the franchise finished as runners-up against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad.
Shane Watson captained the franchise from 2008 to 2015. 29-year-old Samson became the captain of the RR team ahead of IPL 2021 and led the side in the last three seasons. He will also lead the team in IPL 2024. Samson has played 152 IPL matches and belted 3,888 runs with an average of 29.23.
