Everything is hunky dory between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir as evidenced during the fiery showdown between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 29. RCB's batting maestro Kohli and KKR mentor Gambhir were seen exchanging smiles and a hug during the strategic timeout in the first innings. This heartwarming moment took place right after the umpire called for a break following the 16th over of Bengaluru's innings, when Gambhir approached Kohli, leading to a friendly hug and conversation between the two, ending their much talked about on-field rivalry.

By that time, Kohli had already hit his 52nd IPL fifty, propelling RCB to a strong finish. Kohli ended up scoring 83 off 59 ball riding on four fours and as many sixes to help RCB post a challenging total of 182/6. However, KKR chased down the target in 16.5 overs to defeat RCB by seven wickets.
Talking about Kohli and Gambhir's on-filed rivalry, IPL 2023 match between RCB and LSG witness an animated exchange between the duo. This wasn't their first confrontation, back in 2013 when Gambhir led KKR and Kohli was captaining RCB, they engaged in a tense argument and physical exchange until teammates intervened to separate them.

Coming back to Kohli's splendid knock, his impressive performance propelled him to the top of the IPL 2024 run-scorers list, surpassing Hyderabad's in-form wicket-keeper Heinrich Klaasen.
Meanwhile, Kohli also cemented his place in RCB history by smashing the record for most sixes hit by a batsman for the team. He eclipsed the legendary AB de Villiers' mark of 239 with a huge six off Kolkata's Sunil Narine in the eighth over. His dominance continued as he reached his fifty in just the 12th over with a quick single from Varun Chakaravarthy's bowling.
