Delhi Capitals (DC) vice-captain feels there is no need to hit the panic button yet despite two consecutive defeats in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Patel believes that once they get the combinations right, the wins will come.

"It's still early days in the tournament. I don't think we need to work on too many aspects of our game," Axar was quoted as saying in a release.

In the absence of Rishabh Pant, David Warner is leading the side. DC’s top-order has not fired yet and it is one of the reasons why they have not been able to chase a big score or post one.

"We are playing together after a long time so we'll take some time to gel together as a unit. Once our combinations start working, then it'll get better for us," the all-rounder said.

After facing a 50-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their campaign opener, DC lost to defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) by six wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Injured Pant was also in attendance as DC played at their homeground after four years.

"It was disappointing to be on the wrong side of the result. But, it was great to play in front of our fans after a long time. I hope the fans enjoyed the game. Hopefully, we'll perform well in the rest of our home games," the 29-year-old said.

Patel batted at no.7 and boosted the scoring rate with his 22-ball 36 which included two fours and three sixes. He also hit a one-handed six like Pant.

"I didn't plan the one-handed six. My bottom hand came off when I tried to extend my arms. Fortunately, I hit that ball for a six. And then I told Rishabh that the one-handed shot was for him. I was quite happy with my batting performance and I hope that I can keep performing well for Delhi Capitals," the southpaw said.

Pant who survived a horrific accident on December 30 morning met the players in the dressing room as well. In the first match, DC players gave a tribute to Pant by hanging his jersey in the dugout.

"It was great to meet Rishabh in the dressing room. Players from the Gujarat team also came to meet him. Hopefully, he recovers soon and comes back to Kotla. Then both of us can play one-handed shots," he said.
