BIG IPL UPDATE: BCCI is planning to stage closing ceremony of IPL 2022

Not just this, their happiness might double as the fans could see the closing ceremony of the IPL 2022 when the final will be played at Ahmedabad as a top source in the know of development told Sports Tak that BCCI is working on the plan to have closing ceremony this year.

 

"We are discussing to have closing ceremony this year final are in Ahmedabad and we wanted to bring the colour of IPL back so you might see closing ceremony. Idea is under process we are yet to take final call on it once decision will be taken will appoint event management company for the same," the source confirmed to Sports Tak.

 

The BCCI on Saturday invited bids from entities interested in staging the closing ceremony of the ongoing IPL through a tender process. The Board announced the release of Request for Proposal (RFP) for staging the closing ceremony.

 

The detailed terms and conditions of the tender process, including eligibility requirements, process for submissions of bids, rights and obligations, etc. are contained in the RFP which will be made available on payment of a non-refundable fee of Rs 1 lakh plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax.

The RFP will be available for purchase till April 25.

 

"Any interested party wishing to submit a bid is required to purchase the RFP," the BCCI said in a release.

"However, only those satisfying the eligibility criteria set out in the RFP and subject to the other terms and conditions set out therein, shall be eligible to bid."

 

With the addition of two new franchises and the fact the entire tournament is being played in India itself after two years. In the last 15 years, the IPL has established itself as the most important cricket competition on a cricket calendar.  Since its inception, the lucrative league has gone from strength to strength. In a short span of time, the tournament has become the fourth most expensive sports league in the world, in terms of per match broadcasting rights.

 

A total of 74 matches will take place in IPL 2022 including the playoffs and the final. Every team is bound to play 14 matches during the league stage. 

 

Due to safety against Covid, IPL 2022 is being played only in Maharashtra. Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune. There are 4 stadiums who are hosting all the games.

 

Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, and MCA International Stadium in Pune are the 4 venues where the matches of IPL 2022 are being staged. Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium is hosting 20 matches each. Brabourne Stadium and MCA International Stadium are hosting 15 games each.

 

Meanwhile, the BCCI has finalised that the IPL 2022 final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 29. The Eden Gardens in Kolkata is likely to host the qualifier 1 and eliminator of the Indian Premier League, while the qualifier 2 and the final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 29.

 

A source in the know of the development confirmed the development to Sports Tak that Ahmedabad will be hosting the final match and Qualifier 2 but the BCCI is yet to take a call on Lucknow and Kolkata. Notably, some members are in favour of Kolkata and some are saying Lucknow as of now it seems that you might see Kolkata hosting 2 matches but again final decision are yet to be made.
