Former South Africa star Imran Tahir, who has won the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), called MS Dhoni 'the best' in a recent interview with the Lallantop. Tahir spoke about his former skipper and revealed details about the wicketkeeper's thought process while also talking about the moment he recalls the most from his long career in the IPL.

It was during a match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, when CSK had been banned for two seasons. Dhoni was then the skipper of RPS as well and worked to take off the bails in a flash to dismiss the dangerous AB de Villiers by the flight of the leg-spin of Tahir.

Tahir and Dhoni paired to change the game in their team’s favour by sending de Villiers back to the pavilion.

Recalling the moment when Dhoni stumped him out at lightning-fast speed, Tahir said, "I do watch highlights of that stumping where all three stumps were uprooted within seconds.”

Sharing his thoughts on Dhoni’s swiftness behind the wickets, the South African said, "Hard work. He does so much hard work and he’s so fit. Not just in stumping but between the wickets he is one of the fastest. He does all his hard work behind the scenes. I too haven’t seen any wicketkeeper stumping with that much speed.”

Tahir won the Purple Cap of the 2019 edition of the IPL when he was with CSK. He was currently a part of the Star Sports Network commentary panel, giving his views on matches during the ongoing 16th season of the league and providing the viewers with his perspective on spin-bowling.

"If we talk about him, we need one to two hours. There are a lot of things to talk about him. He is cool and a good decision-maker at the same time. Since he is a wicketkeeper-batsman so he knows what a spinner wants to do in a certain situation in the match.

"So Dhoni shares his experience with the spinners as he wants them to perform well for the team. Even if when a spinner concedes more runs, he comes and discusses things and plans for the wicket which I personally have done so many times,” he said about the three-time ICC trophy-winning India captain.
