IPL 2022: National Anti doping agency conducting dope test of IPL players

The 15th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) has already started in a bio-secure environment in Maharashtra. 70 league games are slated to be played at four venues in Mumbai and Pune and now it is understood that the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) is conducting dope test of IPL players. A source in the know of things told Sports Tak that dope tests of IPL players are going on.

Crucial development

“We are talking all necessary steps to follow covid protocol. We have been doing the test on random basis depending on the code of players. As of now we have tested few players and we will keep talking the samples as per protocol,” the source said.

When asked about the specific arrangements being made for IPL, the source said, “It is Just the same. We have well-trained doctors who conduct the test and it is covid situation so we follow the protocols set by government.”

The decision to play the matches in a single hub (the Mumbai-Pune corridor) has been taken to avoid air travel in a bid to avoid the risk of Covid-19 infection.

IPL 2022 schedule 

All 10 teams will be playing a total of 14 league matches (seven home matches and seven away matches), totaling 70 league matches, followed by the four playoff matches. Each team will play five teams twice and the remaining four teams only once (two only home and two only away).

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will host 20 matches, while the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai will both host 15 matches. Meanwhile, the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will host 20 matches, while Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium will get to host 15 matches.

There are two groups with five teams each. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had assigned the teams to two virtual groups on the basis of the number of IPL Championships won, followed by the number of final matches played by the respective teams.

In the season opener of IPL 2022, defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) conceded a six-wicket defeat against last year's finalists Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
