Punjab Kings (PBKS) capitalised on the misfortunes of Mumbai Indians (MI) to condemn them to a 12-run loss at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Wednesday (April 13). Led by skipper Mayank Agarwal and veteran batter Shikhar Dhawan, Punjab ensured that their close loss to Gujarat Titans (GT) was a one-time affair after getting their season back on track with a win.
Their victory helped them climb from seventh spot to third on the points table, a massive boost in their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Jos Buttler has created a monopoly at the top of the Orange Cap with 218 runs in four matches with a hundred and fifty apiece. The England wicketkeeper-batter had a rare failure against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), scoring 13 off 11 balls, but will have a chance to make things right with RR facing Gujarat Titans (GT) on Thursday (April 14). Meanwhile, Shivam Dube's excellent unbeaten 95 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pushed him to second with 207 runs, while Dhawan's (197) powerful knock of 70 off 50 balls moved him to third, above Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) Robin Uthappa (194) and Punjab Kings' (PBKS) Quinton de Kock (188).

Buttler’s RR teammate Yuzvendra Chahal is the new holder of the Purple Cap. The Royals leg-spinner picked up 4/41 against LSG on Sunday (April 10) to move into the top spot with 11 wickets in four matches at an average of just 9.45. Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) Umesh Yadav slipped down one spot after claiming just one wicket against Delhi Capitals (DC). Umesh now has 10 wickets in five matches. DC chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav is currently in third place with 10 wickets in four matches following his 4/35 against KKR.
