Delhi Capitals (DC) have announced Priyam Garg as Kamles Nagarkoti's replacement for the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. DC's star pacer Nagarkoti has been ruled out of the sixteenth season of the cash-rich league owing to a lower back stress fracture.

Garg has been roped in for his base price of Rs 20 lakh.

“Uttar Pradesh batter Priyam Garg has been named as Nagarkoti’s replacement and DC have signed him for his base price of INR 20 lakh. The attacking batter was first picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2020 and featured in 14 IPL games for SRH across three seasons,” DC said in a statement.

Initially Garg was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2020 and the star batter went on to play 21 matches for the Orange army in three seasons.

Garg, who led India to the Under-19 World Cup 2020's final, was roped in for a whopping Rs 1.9 crore as he amassed 251 runs riding on a half century on his debut season.

Meanwhile, Nagarkoti was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2018. Unfortunately, a back ailment kept him out of action for over a year, with the majority of his time spent in rehabilitation. He was then roped in by Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 for Rs 1.10 crore. However, the 23-year-old only played one game last year.

Talking about DC's performance this year, after their nightmarish run they managed to snap their five-game losing streak with a tight four-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. However they are still reeling at bottom of the IPL 2023's points table. David Warner-led DC will next lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday (April 24).
