The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is alive and kicking. A total of 23 matches have been played in IPL 2023 and the franchises involved have provided immense entertainment to their loyal supporters. After 17 days of action in the cash-rich tournament, all teams are gearing up for the business end of the competition. Last year's runners-up Rajasthan Royals (RR) have consolidated their position at the top of the points table after a fantastic win over Gujarat Titans (GT).

In Sunday's afternoon game, Mumbai Indians registered a five-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders as Venkatesh Iyer's century went in vain. When it comes to the race for Purple Cap, Yuzvendra Chahal currently occupies the top spot but is tied with two other bowlers in the wickets column.

Let's take a closer at the top 5 wicket-takers in the IPL 2023:

1. Yuzvendra Chahal: Rajasthan Royals' leg-spinner has bagged 11 wickets in five matches. Chahal has accounted for one four-wicket haul in the competition this year.

2. Mark Wood: Lucknow Super Giants' overseas pacer has started the tournament in sublime form. Wood has 11 wickets in four matches. The right-arm pacer has accounted for one five-wicket haul as well.

3. Rashid Khan: The Gujarat Titans leg-spinner has accounted for 11 wickets in five matches and is third on the highest wicket-takers list.

4. Mohammed Shami: Gujarat Titans' premier pacer has bagged 10 wickets in five matches and currently occupies fourth place in the points table.

5. Ravi Bishnoi: Lucknow Super Giants leg-spinner has bagged eight wickets in five matches. The young wrist spinner has been a revelation for the Lucknow-based franchise this season so far.
