Story Highlights:

Jamie Overton claimed 4 wickets for just 18 runs against Delhi Capitals.

Overton became 3rd CSK bowler to take a 4-fer against DC.

Australia’s T20 World Cup 2021-winning captain Aaron Finch reckons Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) overseas all-rounder Jamie Overton should’ve been named ‘Player of the match’ for his economical four-wicket haul in the clash against Delhi Capitals (DC). Finch pointed out that Overton cranked it up and bowled in mid and high 140s. He feels that Overton strangled DC batters in the run chase and deserved the POTM award ahead of Sanju Samson who scored an unbeaten 115, his first ton in CSK colours.

"He was bowling fast, up in the mid- to high 140s, Finch said of Overton on ESPNCricinfo’s Timed Out show. "Thinking back to the Big Bash, where he played for Adelaide Strikers, he was consistently up in the high 140s as well. So, he's a serious cricketer. For me, he should be the Player of the Match. On a batting-friendly wicket, here was the point of difference.

"He just strangled them through the middle when he had that opportunity. Big wickets at big times. I think he's a seriously good cricketer. The skill set that he brings - bat, ball, field - another one of those players that you want in the game, in the contest, when it's on the line.

"He likes the big moments. Every time he gets an opportunity around the world, whether it's franchise [cricket] or for England, he gets the job done."

Overton stars with 4-fer

Overton was introduced into the attack in the eight over. He dismissed in-form Sameer Rizvi with a cross seam delivery into the pitch. In the 13th over, Overton cleaned up David Miller with a peach of a delivery hitting the top of the leg-stump. In his next over, he created more pressure with Auqib Nabi’s wicket. He was tasked to bowl the penultimate over as well. The Englishman deceived a well-set Tristan Stubbs who was batting on 60 to put the final nail in the coffin. In his quota of four overs, Overton conceded just 18 runs, helping CSK beat DC by 23 runs.

Overton became the third CSK bowler to take a four-fer against DC. Imran Tahir (4/12) and Shadab Jakati (4/24) are the other two bowlers to achieve the feat.
