Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to be one of the most affected teams by the one-week suspension of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Ahead of resumption, their two South African players -- Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch -- will be unavailable for playoffs as they are in World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final squad whereas Will Jacks has been named in the ODI squad for series against West Indies. However, in a big boost, MI are set to retain their premier Kiwi fast bowler Trent Boult.
The left-arm pacer Boult has been in sublime form this season with 18 wickets from 12 games at an average of 19.88, including a five-wicket haul. His economy rate is 8.49 runs per over. He has justified his price tag of Rs 12.50 crore.
Rickelton and Bosch will be available till May 25, as per the initial NOCs given by the Cricket South Africa. The newly-appointed Proteas head coach Shukri Conrad expects eight WTC final-bound players to join the rest of Temba Bavuma-led squad.
Bosch has played three games this season, scoring 47 runs from two innings and claimed one wicket. Rickelton has scored 336 runs from 12 innings at an average of 30.55, including three half-centuries. The wicketkeeper-batter is their second-highest run-scorer.
England all-rounder Jacks has played 11 games and scored 195 runs from nine games, including one fifty. He has been handy with the ball taking five wickets at an average of 18.60. His economy rate is 7.75 runs per over.
MI's other overseas players
Other overseas players in the MI side England's left-arm pacer Reece Topley, Afghanistan's Mujeeb Ur Rahman and New Zealand's Mitchell Santner along with uncapped Bevon Jacobs. While Santner has played a few games, Topley, Mujeeb and Jacobs are yet to get a game.
MI's remaining two matches
MI are set to take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in their first match as IPL 2025 resumes. They will host Axar Patel-led DC on May 21. Their last match of the season is against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 26.
