Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) took an indirect dig at Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) speedster Avesh Khan after registering a thrilling six-wicket win at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on May 27, 2025. RCB recalled Avesh Khan's infamous helmet celebration from IPL 2023 after LSG's win against RCB at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The speedster faced a lot of criticism for his animated celebration after LSG's narrow one-wicket win over RCB. After RCB's recent outing against LSG, Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal's 107-run stand helped the Bengaluru-based franchise to register a six-wicket win to seal their berth for the qualifier. After the team's win, RCB took to their social media where they shared a picture of Jitesh Sharma's celebration, where he didn't throw his helmet.

"Didn’t throw the helmet. We respect it," RCB's Instagram post read.
Coming back to the match, RCB's 228 run chase began with Virat Kohli (54) and Phil Salt (30) providing a solid start. But it was the stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma who was the star performer with the bat. Sharma, leading in the absence of injured Rajat Patidar, smashed an unbeaten 85 off just 33 balls at a strike rate of 257.58, including eight boundaries and six huge sixes. His unbroken 107-run partnership with Mayank Agarwal (41* off 23) ensured RCB crossed the finish line with eight balls to spare.
Earlier, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant regained his form in the team's last IPL 2025 league match where he smashed his second century of IPL and first for the Lucknow-based franchise. He played an unbeaten 118 off 61 as he took his side over the 200-run mark. RCB will now face Punjab Kings (PBKS) for their qualifier clash of the tournament which is scheduled to take place on May 29 at the New Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in New Chandigarh (Mullanpur).
