Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant had to leave the field midway during their IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru after suffering an injury. Pant had come in to bat after Aiden Markram’s dismissal in the fourth over and was batting alongside Mitchell Marsh. However, things took a worrying turn soon after.

When did Rishabh Pant get injured?

During the fifth over, third delivery from Josh Hazlewood struck Pant on his left elbow. On that ball, Pant tried to play a big shot across the line but failed to connect properly, and the ball went through towards the wicketkeeper. Replays later showed that the ball had hit his elbow.

The physio was immediately called in as Pant looked in clear discomfort. He had already been hit on the elbow on the previous delivery, and the pain seemed to worsen after this one.

Unable to continue, Pant decided to walk off the field. Hazlewood was seen patting him on the back as he left, while Pant looked visibly in pain and close to tears.

Will Rishabh Pant be able to bat again?

Well, the seriousness of his injury is unknown, but as per the rules, he is retired hurt, so the wicketkeeper batter can come to bat again if he is fit to play. Notably,. Nicholas Pooran is the vice captain for the Lucknow-based franchise, and if Pant is unable to participate in the clash, then he will lead the side. 

RCB vs LSG toss

Coming back to the match, RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to bowl against LSG. Defending champions, RCB, featured with one change, replacing Jacob Duffy with Josh Hazlewood, while LSG are unchanged.
