This season, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has added a novel member to its broadcast crew: a quadruped robot dog. A unique video that was shared on the league's official social media accounts was used to make the announcement. Danny Morrison, a well-known pundit and former cricket player from New Zealand, introduced the robotic dog in the video and said it would be featured in the TV coverage of the current IPL 2025 season.

With its broadcast camera and surveillance capabilities, the robot dog was observed reacting to Morrison's spoken orders. It demonstrated its capacity to interact with the presenter and the audience by even waving at the camera. Morrison added to the enthusiasm surrounding this high-tech innovation by introducing the robot with his trademark flair and humor.

The Indian Premier League has asked supporters to come up with a name for the robot as part of the marketing campaign. In the video, Morrison urged viewers to leave their recommendations in the comments section, saying, "We want you to name our latest team member".

Fans jumped in right away, saturating the post with imaginative and eccentric names. Several IPL players were also featured in the video, including Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, and his colleague Reece Topley. As they engaged with the robot dog, examining its movements and responding with interest and laughter, all three cricket players seemed utterly enthralled. Morrison even got into a foot race with the robot in a lighthearted interlude, which, predictably, ended with the machine winning handily and the former New Zealand cricket player gasping for air.
