Former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma recalled their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 campaign during the coronavirus outbreak. MI was the winner of IPL in 2020, defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
During IPL 2020, the tournament was played in close windows because of the pandemic and no fans were allowed to witness the clash from the stadium. Even players needed to follow the strict bubble because of COVID-19.
As MI are facing the Gujarat Titans (GT) in their second IPL 2025 clash, Rohit recalled that he saw a few people were crying when they were leaving the team hotel in 2020.
"You finish IPL for two months, and then when you go back home, you know that you have created another family. You know, while playing alongside them, going and creating memories. When we won all those trophies, it used to always feel sad to leave that hotel, you know, on the last day. I remember in Abu Dhabi when we won the 2020 IPL. I mean, I saw a few people crying.
Because, you know, we were there for three and a half months in that bubble. Same hotel, same team room. It was very hard to leave that place after creating such memories after three and a half months. You do not want to leave," recalled Rohit.
MI vs GT clash will take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Gujarat-based franchise holds the edge over MI with 3-2 win record. GT's three wins all came at this venue. MI has not been able to defeat GT at its home ground. The
