Kolkata Knight Riders fans are waiting for updates on the fitness of spinner Varun Chakravarthy ahead of their match against Chennai Super Kings.

Varun has been out of action since the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he picked up a finger injury while attempting a catch. Because of that, he missed the washed-out match against Punjab Kings and also the loss to Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens.

Will Varun Chakravarthy feature vs CSK

Before the Lucknow match, there was still no clear timeline for his return. However, there is now a positive update, with signs that he could be available for selection against CSK at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday, April 14.

"So, Varun's been training. He's had a bandage on his hand, but then he's still training. He's been training for all the days leading up to this match, so he's good," said KKR spokesperson during the pre-match press conference.

The team management said Varun has been training regularly despite the bandage, which suggests he is fit enough to return.

His comeback would be a big boost for KKR as they look to get back to winning ways this season.

Varun’s record vs CSK

Varun has generally done well against CSK, taking 13 wickets in 11 matches. At Chepauk, he has picked up 8 wickets in 7 games, with a bowling average of 24.38.

However, this season has been tough for him so far. He has an economy rate of 13.16 and has not taken a wicket in the two matches he has played.

On the other hand, CSK have also received a boost, with Matheesha Pathirana getting his no-objection certificate (NOC) from Sri Lanka Cricket. He is now available for selection for the match at Chepauk.
