Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is becoming a household name with each passing day with his strong and consistent performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The 15-year-old played another fiery cameo if 46 runs off just 21 deliveries in Rajasthan Royals' (RR) loss against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday, May 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Amid the calls of his India debut, RR head coach Kumar Sangakkara has showered praise on the teenage senstation for his commitment towards the game. The Sri Lankan legend has said that Vaibhav is far better player than him.
In an interaction during the game, Kumar Sangakkara revealed he talks too long with the opener, as the RR star needs to relax as well to perform without any added pressure.

"He's very curious, but I'm very careful not to have too long a chat with him. He just needs to relax and bat. If we do chat, it's a lot about other things other than cricket," said Kumar Sangakkara.
On being asked if the Sri Lankan icon plays a fatherly role towards the youngster, Sangakkara revealed that Vaibhav does not need those kind of things as he is a better player than him.
"No, no. He doesn't need that at all. He's a much better player than I would ever be, so he needs a little help but not too much," Sangakkara said.

The 15-year-old opener has impressed everyone with his consistent performances in the ongoing season, amassing 486 runs in 12 outing at an average of 40.50 with a strike rate of 209.13. The left-handed batter has smashed one century and three half-centuries.
