Mumbai Indians' captain Hardik Pandya (C) shakes hands with his Lucknow Super Giants' counterpart Rishabh Pant (3L) at the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 4, 2025.

Highlights:

Mumbai Indians have never beaten LSG at home.

Earlier this season, MI lost by 12 runs to LSG.

MI's only win against LSG came in IPL 2023 eliminator in Chennai.

Mumbai Indians (MI) are on a roll with four wins in a row. It is turning out to be a typical season for five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions who start slow and then find right combination and excel. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) overdependency on their top-order is clear. While both teams have won five out of nine games, MI are clear favourites at home ahead of the crucial encounter.

MI vs LSG Toss Prediction:

It almost feels like a no-brainer. MI have won all their matches at the venue while chasing this season. If Hardik Pandya wins the toss, he will back the team to chase down the target. Rishabh Pant may look to bowl first in order to break the trend.

MI vs LSG Top Performers:

While Suryakumar is MI's leading run-scorer with 373 runs from nine innings at an average of 62.17, Rohit Sharma has found form and scored two consecutive fifties. Tilak Varma has been impressive as well. In the bowling department, captain Pandya is their leading wicket-taker with 12 wickets from eight games. Trent Boult roared back to form with a four-fer against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In the same match, Deepak Chahar struck twice with the new ball and was economical as well. Jasprit Bumrah has not being among top wicket-takers but he has conceded runs at under eight runs per over.

LSG's three batters have scored more than 300 runs in the season. Nicholas Pooran has been dismissed cheaply in last three outings but he can wreak havoc at Wankhede Stadium. He has scored 377 runs at a strike rate of 204.89. Mitchell Marsh is not too far behind with 344 runs from eigth games. Aiden Markram has hit four fifties as well, scoring 326 runs from nine games. Ayush Badoni has been done well in the middle overs but Pant's form remains a concern.

Looking at LSG's bowling, their leading wicket-taker, Shardul Thakur has been expensive. Digvesh Rathi has been economical but crucial breakthroughs have not come of late whereas Ravi Bishnoi has struggled. They would hope that Mayank Yadav returns and provides more edge to the pace attack.

MI vs LSG Win Probability:

LSG have dominated MI with six wins from seven games. The last time they went up against each other, LSG beat MI by 12 runs at home. MI's only win over LSG came two years ago in IPL 2023 eliminator in Chennai. Akash Madhwal took five wickets for just five runs as MI bowled out LSG for 101 and won by 81 runs.
