Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) started with a bang with second-highest score in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history, lost four matches in a row, pulled off the second-highest successful run chase and then fell off the wagon again. It has been a disappointing season for Pat Cummins-led side as they are over-reliant on top-order and the bowling has been pretty ordinary. Tactics of SRH team management have been questioned ahead of their rematch against Mumbai Indians (MI) who have recently found form and seem to have all their bases covered.
SRH vs MI Toss Prediction:
While SRH have won one game batting first and other while chasing at home, they may look to bat first and put runs on the board. Hardik Pandya is likely to opt to bowl first and back his bowlers to dominate a low-on confidence SRH.
SRH vs MI Top Performers:
MI's bowling have not been in the best of forms and performed in patches. The bowling averages of new-ball bowlers Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar is unimpressive. But, Jasprit Bumrah's return has boosted them. His economy rate of 7.43 runs per over is far better than others. Skipper Pandya is their leading wicket-taker with 11 wickets from seven games. Pandya would also hope leg-spinner Karn Sharma regains fitness.
In the batting department, Suryakumar Yadav has been the most consistent. He has 333 runs from eight games including two fifties. Tilak Varma has done fairly well but the big boost is Rohit Sharma regaining his form.
For SRH, there has been an overdependence on top-order. Barring the 141-run knock against Punjab Kings (PBKS), Abhishek has struggled. Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen have lacked consistentcy. Ishan Kishan is yet to fire since their campaign opener. Aniket Verma shows glimpses of brilliance whereas Nitish Kumar Reddy is nowhere near his previous season self.
In the bowling department, it is a horror story for SRH. Mohammed Shami has a bowling average of 52.20 whereas Pat Cummins has struggled. The lack of a good spinner is clearly visible. Eshan Malinga is the only positive in the bowling attack and SRH are missing the services of Adam Zampa who was ruled out due to injury
SRH vs MI Win Probability:
MI have a good record against SRH with 14 wins out of 24 games. At home, SRH have an upper hand with five wins from nine games. The last time MI came to Hyderabad, they conceded 277/3.
