Mumbai Indians' Karn Sharma (2L) celebrates with teammates after taking the wicket of Delhi Capitals' KL Rahul during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on April 13, 2025.

Highlights:

SRH spinners have not been up to the mark in this season.

If Karn Sharma regains fitness, he may be used as impact player.

Eshan Malinga is likely to retain his place in the side.

Mumbai Indians (MI) have finally found momentum and are truly alive in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 playoffs race. Opener Rohit Sharma's return to form against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is a big positive and MI look to move up the points table as they face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who find themselves becoming a one-trick pony.

MI outclassed SRH in their previous clash in the absence of Karn Sharma who got injured while fielding. He was replaced by left-arm pacer Ashwani Kumar in the previous clash against CSK. If Karn regains fitness, Ashwani is likely to be benched. Karn was exceptional against Delhi Capitals (DC) taking three wickets in the middle overs. Hardik Pandya is unlikely to make any other change to the lineup.

Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (wk), Will Jacks, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (c), Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwani Kumar/Karn Sharma

On the other hand, SRH have been struggling despite having a strong team on paper. They lack a good spinner. Zeeshan Ansari is inexperienced and skipper Pat Cummins has been reluctant to use Rahul Chahar due to match-ups. Even against MI, he bowled just one over and conceded nine runs. They are unlikely to make any changes in the overseas players' department. The overdepency on the top-order is clear but they have not been consistent.

As per match situation, Chahar may drop either Chahar or Ansari to bring in another batter. Ansari has been wicketless in last three encounters. While Abhinav Manohar is yet to fire, SRH have the option to try their young batter Ravichandran Smaran or Sachin Baby down the order.

SRH vs MI Weather and Pitch Report:

Rain is unlikely to play a role in the match. In hot conditions, spinners may get some purchase out of the wicket which has been a batting paradise. A big score is expected despite the current form of SRH.
