'They said Virat Kohli was over...': Ex-India star's social media post after RCB's one-sided win vs SRH goes viral

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif on Saturday spoke about how quickly people doubted Virat Kohli after a rough patch. He said that when Kohli scored two ducks in a three-match ODI series against Australia, many felt his white-ball career was finished. But since then, Kohli has bounced back strongly.

In the IPL 2026 opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28, Kohli showed his class again with an unbeaten 69 off 38 balls, leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a comfortable win.

He has been in great form in white-ball cricket, scoring consistently and proving his critics wrong.

After the match, Kaif shared a post backing Kohli and pointing to his recent performances.

“Imagine after two ducks in Australia, they said Virat Kohli was over. His last 10 scores in white ball cricket are – 74, 135, 102, 65, 131, 77, 93 , 23, 124 and 69 n.o in this match," Kaif tweeted.

During the game, Kohli also reached some big milestones. He became the first player in IPL history to score 4,000 runs while chasing and moved past Shoaib Malik in the overall T20 run charts.

RCB vs SRH match result

Coming back to RCB vs SRH clash, Virat Kohli led from the front with an unbeaten 69 off 38 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal chipped in with a quick 61 as Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets in the IPL opener.

SRH, after being asked to bat first, did well to recover and post 201 for nine. Ishan Kishan who was leading the side in Pat Cummins' absence, played a key role with a solid 80 off 38 balls after SRH lost three early wickets and were struggling at 29 in the fifth over. Aniket Verma also gave them a late boost with a rapid 43 from just 18 balls.

While chasing, RCB won the clash in 15.4 overs. Padikkal got them off to a flying start with his aggressive batting, while Kohli stayed till the end to guide the chase. Rajat Patidar also made a quick contribution, scoring 31 off just 12 balls.
