Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made headlines for their player trade ahead of the mini auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, as they traded their veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja with Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson for the 19th edition of the tournament.
The Chennai-based franchise took the internet by storm with a video of their new signing, Sanju Samson, in a Superstar-esque fashion, with a clip that also involved Mollywood star Basil Joseph. CSK took their 'X' to share a clip where they announced Samson's arrival in the team. Here is the clip.
“Varavendiya nerathula correct ah varuven, (Will arrive at the right moment) Presenting Sanju Samson in," the post read.
The caption is a reference to a blockbuster Rajnikanth movie, Muthu, from a1995, while the video was set to the music stylings of yet another Superstar film ‘Petta’.
Samson's stint with RR
Sanju Samson represented the Rajasthan-based franchise in two stints. He first joined the franchise in 2013 and was part of the team till 2015 before joining the Delhi Capitals for a couple of seasons. The wicket-keeper batter returned to RR in 2018 and remained a part of the franchise till 2025.
Homecoming for Ravindra Jadeja
CSK's move proved to be a sort of homecoming for Jadeja, who returns to Rajasthan after his 12-year stint with the joint-most successful side in the history of the league. Jadeja has appeared for Chennai in over 250 matches and is one of the most experienced players in the cash-rich league
