Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz ignited a heated debate following his controversial run-out of Salman Ali Agha during the second ODI on March 13. The drama unfolded on the fourth delivery of the 39th over while Miraz was bowling to Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan struck the ball back toward the bowler’s right, and Miraz managed to intercept the shot using his boot to stop its momentum.
At the time, Agha was positioned outside his crease at the non-striker’s end, standing in close proximity to the bowler. In a gesture of assistance, Agha leaned down to pick up the ball and return it to Miraz. However, the Bangladesh skipper acted quickly, swooping in to grab the ball himself and executing an under-arm throw that dislodged the bails while Agha was still grounded outside his safety zone.

The incident was immediately referred to the third umpire, who confirmed the dismissal, much to the frustration of the Pakistani batter. Agha, clearly incensed by the turn of events, exchanged words with Miraz before walking off the field in a state of visible disbelief. Following the conclusion of the match, Miraz addressed the fallout of the dismissal and shared his perspective on the tactical decision.
“He was away from the wicket and I was just looking for the ball. If you miss, he would go for the run. So I was just thinking like that,” Mehidy said in the post-match presentation.

Pakistan thrash Bangladesh by 128 runs
Pakistan successfully fought their way back into the series by securing a 128-run victory over Bangladesh via the DLS method. The second innings was significantly impacted by rain, resulting in a reduced 32-over chase for Bangladesh, who were set a revised target of 243 instead of the original 274 established by Pakistan. The hosts were ultimately skittled out for just 114 runs, as Haris Rauf and Maaz Sadaqat spearheaded the attack with three wickets apiece.
Pakistan and Bangladesh will next lock horns with each other in the third ODI on March 15, which will decide the winner of the three-match outing
