Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lost their third game of the season, as they failed to defend 156 runs against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Thursday, April 30 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite the defeat, RCB's bowling did a pretty decent job in a low-scoring game.

In the second innings, despite losing Sai Sudharsan early, GT got off to a flying start because of Shubman Gill's rapid knock of 43 runs off just 18 balls with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. The GT skipper was looking dangerous as he was batting with a strike rate of 238.89.

However, Gill’s innings was cut short by Bhuvneshwar Kumar while attempting a cover drive, only to find Virat Kohli in the field, who made no mistake with a sharp effort. After completing the catch, Virat erupted into a fiery celebration, bringing out a glimpse of his Vintage "King Kohli" intensity.

The star RCB pacer has managed to bring back his best form in the IPL 2026, picking up 17 wickets in just nine matches at an economy rate of 7.54 and a bowling average of 15.52. His best figures of 3/5 came against Delhi Capitals. The Rajat Patidar-led side will look for more impactful performances from Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the later stages of the tournament to successfully defend the title.
Currently, RCB sit at the second place in the table with 12 points in hand after playing nine matches in the tournament, at a net run rate of +1.420.
