Suresh Raina departed after scoring 10 runs from 14 balls.Urbanisers Hyderabad beat Southern Super Stars by 13 runs.

Urbanisers Hyderabad captain Suresh Raina was left frustrated as he was given out lbw by the umpire. Raina tried to flick the ball towards the leg side in Afghanistan’s Hamid Hassan’s over but it missed the bat. Hassan appealed and the umpire raised her finger while Raina was jogging to the other end to sneak a single.

Raina was disappointed but he walked back to the dressing room without arguing with the umpire. The ball tracking technology showed that the ball was pitched way outside the leg stump. If DRS had been available, Raina would have survived the howler.

Earlier Souther Super Stars skipper Ross Taylor won the toss and opted to field first. Martin Guptill went berserk in the powerplay overs whereas Dwayne Smith struggled to rotate the strike. In the seventh over, Abdur Razzak struck twice to dismiss Smith and Gurkeerat Singh. While Raina took his time Guptill neared his half-century. In the 10th over, Hassan bowled him. The opener scored 46 runs from 28 balls including six fours and two sixes.

Peter Trego hit two fours and one six but got out lbw to Dilshan Munaweera in the 11th over. In Hassan's next over, Raina got out lbw in a controversial manner. Stuart Binny and Yogesh Nagar revived the innings. Binny contributed with a 12-ball 23 before getting out to Hamid. The Afghan pacer followed it up with Amit Paunikar's wicket. In the penultimate over, Suranga Lakmal struck twice to dismiss Tino Best and Chris Mpofu. Nagar's 29-ball 50 featuring five boundaries helped his side post 156 before getting out in the final over by Pawan Negi.

In the run chase, Jesse Ryder and Upul Tharanga departed after scoring five runs each. Mpofu got Ryder's wicket whereas Trego dismissed Tharanga. Munaweera and Shrevats Goswarni tried to string together a partnership but the latter departed in the sixth over. Taylor could not make an impact either and scored 12 runs from 11 balls before becoming Pragyan Ojha's victim. Mpofu then got Munaweera's wicket. The Sri Lankan scored 34 runs from 27 balls including four fours and a six. The Stars kept on losing wickets and got bowled out for 143, losing the match by 13 runs. Pawan Suyal picked up three wickets and conceded just 23 runs from his quota of four overs.
