Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar lavished praise on Rachin Ravindra and Sarfaraz Khan for their centuries in the ongoing first Test match between India and New Zealand at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Rachin smashes his maiden Test ton against India during 1st innings after Rohit Sharma-led side bundled out on just 46 runs. On the other hand, Sarfaraz Khan who got out on a duck in the first innings smashed his first Test century in the second innings while following the lead of 356 runs.
Tendulkar took his 'X' (formerly known as Twitter) to hail both batters for their centuries in Bengaluru.
"Cricket has a way of connecting us to our roots. Rachin Ravindra seems to have a special connection with Bengaluru, where his family hails from! Another century to his name. And Sarfaraz Khan, what an occasion to score your first Test century, when India needed it most!. Exciting times ahead for both these talented youngsters" posted Tendulkar.
Rachin scored 134 runs in the first Test match which helped New Zealand to score 402 runs in the first innings. Rachin's first century came against South Africa on 4 February 2024 where he scored 240 runs. Sarfaraz came into the playing XI after young batter Shubman Gill missed his spot due to a slight niggle in the neck.
Sarfaraz Khan who made his Test debut in 2024 against England scored 200 runs in his last three Test outings against England. He played his last Test match against Three Lions in Dharamsala.
Coming back to the match, Sarfaraz (125, 154b) and Rishabh Pant (53, 56b) were at the crease when rain played spoilsport and an early lunch was taken due to covers at Chinnaswamy. The duo made a partnership of 113 runs for the fourth wicket in just 22 overs.
