Sam Curran needs one more wicket in T20Is to surpass Mark Wood on elite list
The England all-rounder currently has 54 wickets under his name in 58 T20Is and will be looking to increase his tally in the upcoming series against South Africa

England all-rounder Sam Curran has been added to the Three Lions' squad for the threee-match T20I series against South Africa. The 27-year-old's last appearance in the shortest format came in November 2024 against West Indies and he will now be looking to make an impressive comeback.

Curran has been added to the squad for South Africa T20I series following a great display for the Oval Invincibles in The Hundred. The left-arm pacer finished as the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 12 scalps in 9 matches. He also contributed well with the bat and scored 238 runs in 9 matches.

Curran will be needing just a single wicket in the three-match South Africa series to overtake Mark Wood and become England's fourth-highest wicket-taker in the shortest format. The two are currently tied with 54 wickets each under their respective names.

Meanwhile, Curran has had quite a successful career for England in the shortest format. He had played a key role in England's T20 World Cup triumph in 2021 and has given valiant contributions in the bowling department during his time with the side in T20Is.

Curran has also given decent contributions for England with the bat and has so far scored 346 runs in his T20I career so far.. The all-rounder, who isn't much known for his batting and comes out to bat generally in the lower-middle order, has a strike-rate of 124/47 and has scored a single half-century in the format.
