India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has so far played 83 matches in the shortest format for the side. He has 2598 runs under his name and an average of 38.20. He has played several memorable knocks for the team in the format.

Suryakumar has 4 centuries and 21 half-centuries under his name in the format and he will be looking to add to his tally in the upcoming Asia Cup. The tournament will be his first major competition as the T20I skipper of the Men in Blue.

Suryakumar is just 5 sixes behind from breaking Rohit Sharma's record of the Indian with the most sixes in Asia Cup T20. The 34-year-old is the Indian batter with the third-most sixes in the tournament and is only behind Rohit and Virat Kohli. If he does end up surpassing Rohit, then he will also become the batter to hit the joint-most sixes in the tournament.

However, Suryakumar isn't in great form in the format. The batter has failed to register even a 30+ score in his last 8 T20Is and his last half-century came against Bangladesh in October, 2024. He will definitely be looking to improve his performance with the bat in the Asia Cup which will commence from September 9.   

Notably, the Indian team is yet to lose a series under Suryakumar's captaincy. The 34-year-old, who took over from Rohit Sharma in July, 2024 has led the team to series victories over Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa and England. He will be hoping that his team maintains this stellar form in the upcoming continental tournament.
