Hanuma Vihari spoke up for the first time after his row with the Andhra Cricket Association began during an exclusive interview with Sports Tak. Vihari wrote a long message on Instagram. He said he was told to quit because of a fight with another player, whose father, a politician, complained to the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association. Vihari also shared a letter from his teammates with the state unit president. This showed that his teammates supported him.
The 17th player, who later said he was KN Prudhviraj, claimed Vihari was trying to get sympathy. The ACA said players were forced to sign the support letter.

Hanuma Vihari: As a cricketer, I've been in the game for a long time, now facing many challenges along the way. I've played for both states, which hasn't been easy. I've worked hard to elevate the Andhra cricket team to a higher standard. The incident occurred when I raised my voice at a player, the 17th player, who shouldn't have been in the dressing room as per the rules. Unfortunately, he took it the wrong way and complained to his father. Things escalated from there, leading to complaints against me. Despite no wrongdoing on my part, I was removed as captain. However, I continued to play for the team because of my love and respect for the game. After the tournament ended, I decided to share my side of the story on social media because I believed it was important for people to know the truth.
How much time has passed since the incident occurred? What difficulties did you face?
Vihari: It's been a couple of months since the incident occurred. I carried the burden inside me all this time. It was incredibly challenging, especially for someone like me who has been playing professionally for a long time. It deeply hurt my sense of self-respect. Despite this, my focus remained on the tournament and the team. Once the tournament concluded, I knew I had to speak up for myself; otherwise, I would never have forgiven myself.
Are there multiple accusations against you?
Vihari: They accused me of inappropriate behaviour, which I wasn't aware of, and I was pressured into resigning. I didn't agree with it, but I had no choice. I even sent an email to maintain the team's morale. I didn't want to step down; our goal was to win the Ranji Trophy. However, everything changed after the complaint was made.
Are you reaching out for any help?
Vihari: I aimed to assert my rights. I also released a letter signed by all 15 players, except me, affirming their desire for me to remain both a player and captain of the team. The team had faith in my leadership. I am grateful for the support I have received over the past 24 hours. I decided to speak out because people must know the truth. That's why I stepped forward.
Do you have any questions you'd like to pose?
Vihari: When I was pressured to resign, I fought against it vigorously, seeking assistance from others. However, despite my efforts, it didn't materialise. At this point, I'm not seeking anything further, even after all the harm that has been done. I have no intention of questioning or responding to anyone's allegations or assumptions. I don't feel the need to provide explanations. I shared my story for my own peace of mind.
How are you? How is your family doing?
Vihari: My family has been supportive, and we are holding up well.
Are you anticipating a favourable reply from the ACA?
Vihari: I'm uncertain. Their response is their decision. Depending on what they say, we may need to consider a different approach.
