De Villiers wonders whether Suryakumar has hopes of Test comeback.

India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav wishes to revive his ODI career and admits that he hasn’t justified the number of chances he has been given in the format. In a recent interview, he had asked for help from South Africa legend AB de Villiers who was able to strike a balance between ODIs and T20Is. Former Proteas skipper De Villiers has responded to Suryakumar’s plea and is willing to help him with some questions is answers. He also wonders whether the Mumbaikar has hopes and dreams of playing Test cricket.

“I have a lot of questions to ask him. I’ll start preparing for his questions as well. Regarding the balancing of formats, I am not sure he has big hopes and dreams of playing Test cricket. I don’t think he’ll throw it away. But on finding consistency between ODIs and T20s, I’ll do my homework and give SKY a good answer,” the original Mr.360 said on his YouTube channel.

How SKY asked for ABD’s help

“If I meet him soon, I would like to ask him how he managed to balance his T20I and ODI games," Suryakumar said on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel. “I haven’t been able to do so. I thought ODIs should be played like T20Is. I want to ask him what he did to be successful in both formats."

“AB, if you are listening to this, please get in touch with me quickly. There are three or four important years ahead for me. I’m very keen on playing ODI cricket. Please help me! I couldn’t balance T20Is and ODIs," Surya added.

ABD lauds SKY’s captaincy

Meanwhile, De Villiers lauded Suryakumar's leadership. He believes that the 34-year-old can achieve the unimaginable because he has a lot of self belief.

“It’s absolutely phenomenal. Suryakumar Yadav is quite calm and collected but also very inspirational in the way he performs himself. We all know he can pull a rabbit out of the hat and achieve the unimaginable,” said the 41-year-old.

“That’s the kind of player he is and I think a lot of players find confidence and self belief through that. That’s the big word, self belief. In T20 cricket, you need to have a lot of self belief, not only as an individual but as a team as well. Surya brings that to the table,” he added.
