Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has surged to second place in the latest ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings following impressive performances in the ongoing series against Afghanistan. Sharma, who scored a rapid 82 off 32 balls in the first T20I in New Delhi and followed it with 39 off 19 in the second match, overtook Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan to claim the No. 2 spot.

Following the latest rankings, Sharma now closely follows the No. 1 spot. He now sits just 51 rating points behind fellow Indian Ishan Kishan, who retains the top position. Sharma’s consistent form continues to underline his growing importance in India’s T20 setup. The results leave India with a 1-2 hold on the rankings.
India currently leads the three-match series 2-0 after securing consecutive seven-wicket victories. In the second T20I, Sanju Samson also made a significant contribution with a brisk 57 off 22 balls, helping him climb four places to No. 30 in the rankings. The third and final match of the series is still to come.
