Former Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw announced his arrival at Maharashtra with an 111-run knock against Chattisgarh in the first innings of Buchi Babu tournament 2025 clash. After the century, Shaw could not make it big in the run chase of 185. On Day 3 of the clash, he got clean bowled by Chattisgarh left-arm spinner Shashank Tiwari.
On the first ball of Tiwari's over, Shaw played across as he could not pick the yorker from the left-arm spinner. Shaw departed after scoring just one run from four deliveries.
In the first innings, Shaw was dismissed by a spinner as well. He got out stumped in an attempt to attack the leg-spinner Shubham Agrawal. He scored 111 runs from 141 deliveries and helped Maharashtra post 217 in reply to Chattisgarh's 252.
In the third innings, Chattisgarh were bowled out for 149 as Vicky Ostwal and Hitesh Walunj took five wickets apiece.
Shaw will to start from scratch
After Day 2’s play, Shaw had talked about the will to start from scratch and make his way back to the top.
"I don't mind starting from scratch again because I've seen many ups and downs in my life," Shaw said after Day 2’s play as quoted by ESPNCricinfo. "And I've been up there, I've been down there, and I've come back up there. So, everything is possible, I feel. I'm kind of a very confident guy, confident in myself and my work ethics. I feel and I hope that this season will go really well for me as well as for my new team."
Shaw on changes in diet and training routine
After facing the axe from Mumbai selectors, Shaw worked on his fitness and focused on getting better both physically and mentally.
"I mean, these two-three months [before the season] I had my trainer [working with me]," he said. "He used to come personally to train me. And I've got a dietitian as well, and he gives me the meals [plan] and everything - like what a dietitian does. So, all this stuff in three-four months has really changed me physically and mentally as well. And, you know, it can be seen on the field."
