The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India's squad for the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup 2025 and the ODI series against Australia. India will face Australia in a three-match ODI series before the World Cup, which starts on September 14.
Soon after facing Australia, Team India will be seen featuring in the ODI World Cup, which will take place from September 30 to November 2. The Women in Blue will start their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka. Shafali Varma is India's notable omission from the World Cup squad.
However, Chief Selector Neetu David said that Shafali is in the system and they are looking at her performances. n
"Shafali played the Australia A series. She’s in the system, not like she’s not. We’ve got our eyes on her. Hope she plays a lot more and garners experience, it’ll help India in the 50-overs format" said Neetu David.
“We have Renuka and Kranti in the PowerPlay, have Shree Charani, Deepti and Radha to bowl in the slog overs and Sneh Rana in the middle overs. We didn’t want to make a lot of changes, we wanted continuity,” Harmanpreet said on the team’s balance.
Chief selector Neetu David spoke on Renuka’s inclusion and said, “Renuka has been a precious player for us. She had niggles and been out of the game, but is available. She is our main player. This is a main event, great she’s part of the team.”
