Australia wicketkeeper batter Alex Carey has officially withdrawn from the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which is scheduled to start from April 11. Carey, who was picked by Islamabad United as a replacement player for South Africa star Rassie van der Dussen for a portion of the tournament, will not be available for the tournament due to domestic cricket commitments in Australia.
Express Tribune quoted that Islamabad United confirmed Alex Carey's exit from the PSL 2025 ahead of their opener clash of the tournament.
Islamabad United will start their PSL 2025 campaign against Lahore Qalandars today at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. After Carey opted out, the Shadab Khan-led side will look forward to van der Dussen’s return, as confirmed by the franchise.
Before Carey, former New Zealand captain Kane Willamson will also reportedly miss the initial matches of the PSL. Williamson has been picked by the Karachi Kings after going unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega-auction.
