South Africa bounced back in style to win the second T20I against Australia, thanks to a sensational unbeaten century from Dewald Brevis. The young batter shifted the momentum of the game with a dominant 125* off just 56 balls, guiding his team to a commanding total of 218/7. In response, Australia fell well short, bowled out for 165 in 17.4 overs, handing South Africa a 53-run victory and levelling the series 1–1.
Brevis Turns the Game on Its Head
South Africa was unable to get a great start with openers Ryan Rickelton (14) and captain Aiden Markram (18) falling cheaply. Luan Dre Pretorius added only 10 runs, leaving the Proteas in a spot of bother early on. Dewald Brevis shifted the momentum of the game. The Proteas batter wasted no time taking on the bowlers, launching massive sixes and finding the boundary with ease. He reached his century in just 41 balls and went on to score an unbeaten 125 off 56 deliveries. His stunning knock included 12 fours and 8 sixes, and he finished with a strike rate of 223, the highest score by a South African in T20Is against Australia.

Tristan Stubbs played a 31 off a 22-ball cameo, but it was largely a one-man show from Brevis. South Africa closed their innings on a high, posting 218 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Glenn Maxwell and Ben Dwarshuis were the pick of the Australian bowlers, taking two wickets each.
Australia Collapses Under Pressure
Chasing a mammoth total, Australia needed a solid start, but things quickly unravelled. Travis Head was dismissed for just 5, and the top order crumbled, with half the side back in the dressing room for only 18 runs. Captain Mitchell Marsh offered some resistance with a brisk 22 before falling to Corbin Bosch.
Tim David tried to keep Australia in the hunt with a quickfire 50 off 24 balls, and Alex Carey added 26 later on, but the required run rate kept climbing and wickets continued to tumble. In the end, the Australians were bowled out for 165, falling 53 runs short.
For South Africa, Corbin Bosch and Kwena Mphaka were outstanding with the ball, claiming three wickets each and ensuring there was no way back for the visitors. After losing the first T20I by 17 runs, South Africa made a strong comeback in the second match to level the series. All eyes now turn to the third and final T20I, set to take place on August 16, with the series on the line.
