Australia's 7 World Cup 2023 winners set Rs 2 crore base price as 1,166 players register for IPL 2024 auction

New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra who dazzled in ODI World Cup 2023 has opted for a base price of Rs 50 lakh ahead of IPL 2024 mini-auction.

After beating hosts India to lift the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 trophy, seven Australian players from the winning squad - Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Steve Smith, Josh Inglis and Sean Abbott - have set their base price at Rs 2 crore ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction.
 

According to ESPNCricinfo, as many as 25 players have set their base price at Rs 2 crore for the auction which will take place on December 19 in Dubai.

Surprisingly, New Zealand's star all-rounder Rachin Ravindra who broke several records in his maiden World Cup, has decided to go with a base price of Rs 50 lakhs. Ravindra is expected to trigger a bidding war among franchises in the mini-auction.
 

A total of 1,166 players have registered for the auction. However, the final pool which will be submitted for the auction will be much smaller. The list comprises 45 associate nation players, 909 uncapped players including 812 Indian players, and 18 uncapped Indian players. 
 

Other prominent players who have chosen the highest base price are South Africa's Gerald Coetzee, England's explosive batter Harry Brook, Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, and Kedar Jadhav. After releasing several players last month, the 10 franchises have a maximum of 77 slots to fill including 30 overseas players. Starc and Head will be making a comeback in the IPL after a long hiatus.
