In a series of unfortunate events, England's star all-rounder Jacob Bethell has been ruled out from the upcoming season of The Hundred due to a knee injury. As an outcome, he is doubtful for England's upcoming Test series against Pakistan which will take place in August.

Big blow for Birmingham Phoenix

Notably, an MRI scan was conducted to assess the seriousness of the injury. Sadly, the injury restricted him to play in The Hundred, where he was all set to captain Birmingham Phoenix.

The star English all-rounder has expressed his disappointment after enduring a knee injury just before the tournament, saying it's frustrating to miss out on the competition and he will need time to get back in peak physical condition.

"It's frustrating to miss out on The Hundred, especially representing Birmingham Phoenix in front of our supporters at Edgbaston. Unfortunately, I need to take the time to get back to full fitness, " said Bethell in a statement.

After losing Bethell to an unfortunate injury, Donovan Ferreira has been named as the captain of the side, and a player replacement will be named in due course.

How Bethell performed in the ODI series against India?

Bethell last appeared in the home ODI series against India. In the three-game series, Bethell endured a flop start before playing a match-winning knock of 91 runs off 93 balls in the series decider game. His innings included 11 fours and two maximums and earned the Player of the Match award.

In the three-game series, the left-handed batter managed to amass 109 runs at an average of 36.33 with a strike rate of 81.34. It will be interesting to see how much it takes for him to get back in proper shape.
