Bangladesh beat Australia on their home soil for first time, chase 57 to win 1st Test by 9 wickets

In a series of historic events, Bangladesh secured their maiden Test win on the Australian soil. The Najmal Hossain Shanto-led side claimed a dominating win 9-wicket win over Australia in the first Test in Darwin while chasing 57 runs in the final innings.

Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh. However the decision turned a backfiring one, as the entire Australian team crumbled to 198 all out against the relentless seam movement. Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud Shattered the hosts with a career-best 6/55, as Steve Smith's counter-attacking 71 off 76 balls offered the only real resistance.

In response, Bangladesh countered with a towering 426 runs, driven by opener Tanzid Hasan who scored a historic 101, becoming the first Bangladeshi batter to score a Test hundred in Australia. Skipper Najmal Hossain Shanto (84) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (65) capped off the dominance, despite Josh Hazlewood recording a spell of 5/68, which marked his 300th scalp in the format.

Starting their second innings facing a huge 228-run deficit, Australia found themselves pushed to the absolute edge by a sensational bowling performance from Bangladesh. Hasan Mahmud struck again by dismissing both openers, while Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan removed key middle-order batters including Steve Smith (44). By Day 4, Australia fought back through lower-order fightback, with Cameron Green leading the resistance with 104. All-rounder Mehidy dismantled the lower order with 5/66, leaving Bangladesh needing just 57 runs for win.

Josh Hazlewood briefly raised hopes for Australia by removing Tanzid for a duck in the opening over. However, Shadman Islam (25*) and Mominul Haque (30) showed courage, steering the visitors seal the historic win by nine wickets.
