Former Bangladesh captain Litton Das has prioritised league cricket over national duty as he will be seen participating in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 instead of playing for Bangladesh in their series against Zimbabwe. This decision aligns with a growing trend where players are opting to skip international matches in favor of franchise-based leagues.
Litton Das picks PSL over Bangladesh
As per ESPNcricinfo, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted the wicketkeeper-batter a No Objection Certificate (NOC) that covers the entirety of the PSL 2025 season. This clearance from the national board allows him to fully commit to his participation in the league.
Notably, Bangladesh will play a two-match Test series against Zimbabwe which is scheduled to kick off from April 20 and May 2 with Sylhet and Chattogram in Bangladesh hosting the games. The Test outing between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will overlap with the tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is slated to get underway from April 8.
Interestingly, Bangladesh's most recent captain in the white-ball formats, Najmul Hossain Shanto, had previously expressed a desire for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to be more open to allowing players to participate in franchise leagues around the world.
It has been confirmed that theBCB has granted No Objection Certificates to several players for their participation in the upcoming PSL 2025. Litton Das and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain have both received full NOCs, allowing them to be available for the entire duration of the league. Meanwhile, another player, Nahid Rana, an express pace bowler, has been granted a partial NOC. As per the agreement, Nahid Rana will first represent Bangladesh in the initial Test match against Zimbabwe, scheduled from April 20 to 24. Following his national duty, he will then join his Peshawar Zalmi team in the Pakistan Super League, where he is slotted in the gold category. In the PSL draft, Litton Das was signed by the Karachi Kings, while Rishad Hossain will be playing for the Lahore Qalandars, both in the silver category.
