The Big Bash League (BBL) 2026-27’s full schedule for the men’s competition has been announced. Defending champions Perth Scorchers will go up against Melbourne Renegades in the season opener at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on December 12.

The Scorchers' squad has plenty of big names including a few current Indian Premier League (IPL) players. Punjab Kings' (PBKS) Cooper Connolly, Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis, their overseas signing Finn Allen who plays for (Kolkata Knight Riders) are likely to play in the historic BBL match.
In the Renegades squad, the likes of Adam Zampa, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Tim Seifert, Jake Fraser-McGurk are likely to feature. Renegades squad had two Pakistan players -- Hassan Khan and Mohammad Rizwan. But, they are unlikely to play in the opener even if they are retained by the franchise.
The BBL 2026-27 will commence on December 12, 2026 and the final will be played on January 26, 2027. The first match of the season on Australian soil will be played on December 15 with Brisbane Heat going up against Sydney Sixers at The Gabba.
Christmas Eve match has returned to BBL schedule after four years. At Melbourne's Junction Oval, Melbourne Renegades will host Hobart Hurricanes on December 24.
No Aussie all-format players in BBL 2026-27
The BBL 2026-27 will feature Australia's all-format players. Australia are set to host New Zealand for a four-Test series which will begin on December 9 and end on January 8. Then, the Australian squad will fly to India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which will begin on January 21.
