The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on March 2 announced the schedule for one-off Test and three-ODI series against Afghanistan at home in June 2026.
The one-off Test will be begin on June 6 in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. This will the first Test against India and Afghanistan since 2018.

The only Test will fill the void of a long gap between two Tests. In August, India are scheduled to take on Sri Lanka in a two-Test series in a bid to keep their World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 final hopes alive.
The three-ODI series will be played from June 14 to June 20. The three venues finalised for the ODI series are Dharamsala, Lucknow and Chennai. All three ODIs are day/night matches. This is the first ODI series between India and Afghanistan. So far, they've locked horns in Asia Cup and World Cup events.
The ODI series will be part of India's preparation for the ODI World Cup next year on South African soil.
What happened in IND vs AFG one-off Test in 2018?
The last time India took on Afghanistan, Ajinkya Rahane was captain. Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan scored centuries. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja picked a fifer each as Afghanistan were bowled out just over 100 in both innings. India won the match by an innings and 262 runs in Bengaluru.
IND vs AFG ODI head-to-head
So far, India and Afghanistan have played four ODIs against each other. India have won three games whereas one ended in a tie. The tied match was played in Asia Cup 2018. Their previous clash was in ODI World Cup 2023. Despite Jasprit Bumrah's four-fer, Afghanistan managed to post 272/8. In the run chase, Rohit scored an 84-ball 131 whereas Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 56 to lead India to a comfortable victory by eight wickets with 15 overs to spare in Delhi.
