BCCI announces India's squad for England series, star all-rounder makes much-awaited comeback

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced India's women's squads for the upcoming ODI and T20I series in England. The Indian women's cricket team is scheduled to compete against their English counterparts in a series comprising five T20 International matches and three One-Day International matches. These matches will be played between June 28 and July 22.

Leading both the ODI and T20I squads will be Harmanpreet Kaur, who has been named as the captain. In both formats of the game, Smriti Mandhana will serve as the vice-captain, providing crucial support and leadership to the team. In a massive change India's star all-rounder Shafali Verma, has made a highly anticipated comeback to the national T20 International team after a hiatus of seven months. Her inclusion marks her selection in the India women's squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of England.

Interestingly, while Shafali has been included in the T20I squad, Pratika Rawal, who competes for a similar role, has been retained in the ODI squad. This suggests a specific role envisioned for Shafali in the shorter format. The Indian team heads into this series with positive momentum, having recently secured a Tri-Series victory in Sri Lanka, a tournament that also involved South Africa.

Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian team is scheduled to play five T20 International matches against England, with these encounters taking place between June 28th and July 12th. Following the T20I series, the two teams will then compete in three One-Day International matches, slated for July 16th, 19th, and 22nd.

Adding further strength and experience to both squads is veteran all-rounder Sneh Rana. Her impactful performances in the recent Tri-Nation tournament have earned her a well-deserved place in both the ODI and T20I teams for the England tour.
