This sentiment has gained traction following his two-season captaincy stint with the Lucknow Super Giants, which many feel has provided clear testimony that leadership might be affecting his overall performance.

Furthermore, insiders point out that Pant's tactical acumen came under scrutiny last November during a Test match against South Africa in Guwahati. The upcoming assignment against Afghanistan will kick off with a one-off Test match scheduled from June 6 to 10 in New Chandigarh. Following the longest format, the action will shift to a three-match ODI series, with games slated for June 14 in Dharamshala, June 17 in Lucknow, and the finale on June 20 in Chennai.
