The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that they will attend the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) annual general meeting online, which is scheduled to take place on July 23 in Dhaka. Earlier, both BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have opted out of sending their personnel for the meeting in Dhaka that raising questions about the future of the Asia Cup 2025. 

A top source in the knowledge of development told India Today that after discussion with the stakeholders now BCCI has now decided to attend this crucial meeting virtually BCCI's VP Rajeev Shukla to represent BCCI. 

The Sources close to Sports Tak also revealed that there are changes have been made to the agenda of the meeting. The election process for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Vice President's post has been postponed until further notice. There are chances that the final call on the Asia Cup will be taken in this meeting in Bangladesh.

Sports Tak earlier reported that the BCCI had requested the ACC to change the venue of the meeting or postpone it. 

"We have requested them (ACC) to either change the meeting venue or postpone it. But, till now, there is no update from them. We will wait till 24th (July) which is the date of meeting," a top source told Sports Tak. 

India are host of the tournament. Amidst tensions between India and Pakistan, the latter's matches will take place at a neutral venue. 

"We have not decided anything. At present, we are just awaiting their decision on Asia Cup meeting. Once there's clarity on the meeting, we will decide the further course of action," the source added.


The Asia Cup is considered a rehearsal for the World Cup, so the tournament will take place in T20 format, considering the upcoming World Cup's format. 

The last edition of the marquee event was played in ODI format in 2023, where India defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets as the hosts were bowled out for a paltry 54 in Colombo. The last time the Asia Cup was played in the T20 format, Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 23 runs to win the trophy.
